Class of (20)12!

The Guilford High School - Class of 2012 spelled out their graduation year in flesh and ...paint!

New trends in man make up?

The Guilford High School - Class of 2012 graduating seniors kept with tradition by painting the dam at Alderman Park in Rockford. Looked more like a body painting flash mob from our vantage point. They were having a great time. All the kids looked tribal at the end.

Residential Curbside Recycling Comes Full Circle and Now Includes Cost-Savings to Eco-Conscious Homeowners and Municipalities

Company asks residents to contact their elected officials to support a game-changing approach to waste reduction through managed recycling that will result in cost- and time-savings. The company says, “Throw the recyclables in with the garbage and we’ll do the rest.”

(Roscoe, IL) – Remember when a homeowner packed all their trash in a single trash container and brought it out to the curb without separating out any recyclables. Those days will be back very soon if a Roscoe company operating throughout the Stateline area has anything to do with it.

Clean Construction & Recycling LLC, http://cleanconstructionrecycling.com/, 13125 North Second Street, Roscoe, Illinois is leading the charge to change the way homeowners manage their recyclables and trash in preparation for pick-up.

“Recycling has come full circle,” explains Ed Schmitt, of Clean Construction & Recycling in Roscoe.  “Now, homeowners no longer have to separate their recyclable items and have them picked up separately for them to be recycled properly.  All they have to do is place all their recyclables and garbage in one single container. We’ll handle the separation and recycling.  The key here is no more curbside separating of recyclables is necessary.  We’ll do that.”

Schmitt also indicated that significant cost savings should accrue through collection efficiencies when this form of trash collection and recycling is implemented by local municipalities. “In an era of increasing costs and higher municipal budgets, opportunities offering communities cost effective solutions like this cannot be overlooked. We want to participate and help the process.”

“There will be cost savings to the municipalities and to their residents because they will be able to designate that all trash and recyclables are picked up in a single truck, with just a single pass by each residence. Fleets of trucks, with multiple compartments, passing the same locations, are redundant, costly and polluting. They are no longer necessary. Homeowners will save time by not having to separate paper, cardboard, plastic containers, tin and aluminum cans, bottles, etc…, etc…, etc… from the main trash container and then make an extra trip to take the recyclables out to the curb .”

“We know the time- and cost-savings are there. We are currently sorting recyclables out of the trash portion collected from residents in the area,” Schmitt explained. “Once recyclables are left in with the trash we will sort those out as well. In total we can recover and recycle a higher percentage than is currently being recycled by the curbside separation process alone. Communities should see the amount of residential recyclables immediately increase and in many cases double the current amount being recovered when they separate them from the trash. All that needs be done is to throw all the trash and recyclables together. We’ll do the rest.”

Clean Construction & Recycling operates the Roscoe Transfer Station and serves Roscoe, Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Rockton, Beloit and South Beloit, ranging outwards 50-75 miles in the Stateline area. The separating process takes place at the company’s Material Recycling Facility, also known as a MRF or “Murf.” This recycling operation triage sorts the materials from a combined refuse stream of Municipal Solid Waste, MSW, or better known as ‘trash’ or ‘garbage’. This separation process is sometimes referred to as a “Dirty Murf.”

What’s next? To bring this change about, Schmitt encourages homeowners in the area to contact their elected officials and political leaders and voice their support for this time and cost saving approach to trash collection that also increases the amount being recycled.  “Ask them to contact us.”
